Isn't valentine's a bit stupid?

Is it just me or does anyone find valentine's day kind of...silly?
Now i don't think this just because i'm single and all, sure if I was with someone I would still find it silly, even though I would end up doing something for it.
But why I think its silly is that people rush trying to prepare to do something that day for there love one, like go out for a meal or something. Also they get presents for each other...
Now, why do we actually need a day like this to actually make us do something like presents, flowers and dinners. Shouldn't we every now and again maybe think of things like that even if its not valentine's day?
Like in a way, just because its valentine's day its like we HAVE to show we love our other. Shouldn't we be able to show it naturally without the need for such a day.
Some people have the right idea on the day as they don't go out for a meal our get presents for there girlfriend/boyfriend, they spend it like any other time they might go out with them and don't try to break there backs making a real special effort.
Well besides all this, I enjoyed the day as I spent it with friends that day, like I would have any other day...
